Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind

eternal sunshine picture.jpg

Eternal Sunshine of Spotless Mind is a film written by Charlie Kaufman .The movie is about a  seperated couple who have erased memories of each other.Clementine is a carefree girl who erases all the memories of her relationships. On hearing this, Even Joel wanted to do it. So, most of the part of the film takes place in Joel’s mind.Joel tries to hide Clementine in remote parts of his unconscious. Joel finds himself revisiting them in reverse. He tries to preserve the happy moments he had spent with her.But gradually, All the memories are slowly erased with the last memory of clementine telling him, “Meet me in Montauk”

It’s strange how Clementine’s hair colour keep changing throughout the movie. Her hair colour is red when she was in love with Joel in his memory and rest of the times it’s a green, blue, etc.So, I think you can forget a memory but you can’t forget the emotions which are attached with it.

The insight of “Eternal Sunshine” is that, at the end of the day, our memories are all we really have, and when they’re gone, we’re gone.

Cleo from 5 to 7

Cleo from 5 to 7 is a film written in the year 1962. The director of the movie is Agnes Varda. The film depicts the entire movie in real time from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm and still we can feel the sluggishness of moments . These two hours seem to have a lot of activities in them. This movie revolves around a beautiful girl named Cleo, who is a pop singer.

The tarot card reading left Cleo worried. It’s strange how she believes in it. She has two hours to wait until the results of her biopsy come back. She is extremely sad and scared about the results, because she assumes that the reports would be negative. Even, when she’s home and she sings songs after the test, She sings depressing songs. Later, She visits her friends and all of them fail to give her the emotional support she needs. Cleo thought that her beauty and fame was going to come to an end in just some time. It’s Simply because Cleo was going trough a terrible time and so her life was filled with worries and tensions. In Paris she finally finds comfort talking with a soldier in a park. Cleo narrates her problems to him and he supports her. They go together to the doctor to check the results.

The doctor very casually tells her that it’s just two months of chemotherapy and she would be fine. Cleo was still in peace because she had support.

So, I think Cleo strongly believes that her physical appearance and beauty is an indication of time, and that she would only live till she’s beautiful.

Over The Curl By Paul Kraph

This work of art by Paul Kraph is about the waves and the ocean. I think that the imagery of waves represent time . The waves symbolize the flow of time . It is rightly said that “Time and Tide waits for no man”.The ocean is tuned to the concept of change as every second it is always moving and shifting with waves and currents just like way “Time” refers to change. The rock symbolizes the strength of a human ,to stand as firm as a rock against tough times . The Ocean does not begin at one point and end at another just as Time does not have a beginning or an ending. That’s why I think that this beautiful painting perfectly relates to the concept of time.

An Occurrence At Owl Creek Bridge

“An occurrence at Owl creek bridge” is a short story by Ambrose Bierce. During the Civil War, a southern Civilian, Peyton Farquhar ,who was standing on a rail road bridge was about to be hanged.

His wrists were bound behind his back, both his legs were tied together and around his neck was a noose that was tied to a beam overhead. The sounds that were there in the background were that of the birds and the military orders. While the man awaits the signal from the captain, his thoughts begin to drift to his family, and even to the possibility of escape. He looks down into the water and imagines as if he fell into the water. He pictures himself freeing his hands, removing the noose and swimming to freedom and his home. In just a few minutes he managed to reach the shore , run through the forest and finally reach the gate to his home. He then see’s his wife smiling at him, but, as he is about to grasp her he feels a powerful blow against the back of his neck. Bright white light turns to complete darkness. Farquhar was dead and his body hung beneath Owl Creek Bridge.

So here it depicts how time changes for him according to his thoughts and wishes. How time was slow and fast for him. Peyton Farquhar even had a sense of hope. Even while standing on the plank, he hopes for a better life, hopes that he could escape.

Time

Time passes and things change. Everytime I look into the mirror, I see myself as a kid smiling. It’s simply because time spent as a kid was more happier and cheerful. Now, life has completely changed. It is full of responsibilities and duties. I wish I could go back to my childhood and enjoy.20160201063158

As soon as you enter the adulthood, life takes various curves. Man gets entangled with the responsibilities towards his family, friends, prosperity, commitments, etc. So it is correctly said “Time and Tide waits for no man” as man runs behind time throughout his life but Time waits for none.

Be it Winter, summer, spring or autumn our nature is admired throughout the year. The tree’s look awesome even without a single leaf. When the weather changes the tree’s bloom up and spreads the mother earth like a bed sheet of flowers.
